Driving from Johor Bahru or Singapore to Mersing

Drive from Woodlands CIQ to Kota Tinggi across the Tebrau Highway and follow your journey to Mersing,, the jumping off point for many of the paradise islands off Johor. Distance to drive is about 150 km, but it's mostly B-type roads, so it's a comfortable pace most of the time.

One of the common arteries to the islands is the PLUS highway to the South, by way of the exit through Air Hitam.

From Air Hitam, continue to Kluang; from there, you can reach Mersing. Driving to Mersing can be quite a long ride, but you can reduce road-time by following these short-cuts: 1. KL - Kuala Pilah - Bandar Muazzam Shah (exit between Endau and Mersing) - Mersing 2. KL - Kluang - NITAR - Mersing.

Both Bandar Muazzam Shah and NITAR are palm oil plantation areas, resulting in traffic being considerably lighter.
