ATV Off-Road Crossing in Tioman: A Dutch Speedster's Day of Fun in the Sun
When I heard about ATV riding on Tioman Island, I thought, Yeah, that sounds fun! I'd never been to Tioman before, but everyone said it's an island you must visit if you like nature and adventure. I booked my plane and ferry tickets and planned the whole trip. Obviously, I didn't expect that renting an ATV would be the highlight of my holiday, but man, it was really great!
So, what is this ATV thing? Well, ATV stands for All Terrain Vehicle, which in simple words is like a small, powerful jeep but without the roof. You can go everywhere with it, through mud, over rocks and even on the beach. In Holland, we have lots of bicycles, but ATVs are not so common. In Tioman, there's rental place that offers ATVs for tourists and I must say, it is something you should try if you visit Tioman.
Before I went, I asked a few people and they were kind enough to let me know where the rental place is.WeI decided to go for it and rent an ATV just for ourselves. I don't remember the exact price because we were in a group and of course we went... Dutch :) But I think it cost 300 Ringgit, which is around 60 Euros, so not too expensive.
We have Lift-Off!!
The day of the ATV ride, I was so excited. When I arrived at the rental place, they gave me a quick lesson on how to drive the ATV. It was actually quite easy. The staff was friendly and made sure I understood everything before I hit the track. They even gave me a basic map of the ATV zone with some recommended routes.
Driving the ATV was an amazing experience. The ATV was powerful, but also quite stable, so I didn't feel like I was going to fall off or something. The roads on Tioman are not always the best, that's the whole point of course, but with the ATV, you can go over anything. I drove through the jungle, up and down hills and even along the coast. The view was fantastic, with the green jungle on one side and the blue sea on the other. Selfie time!!
I stopped a few times just to enjoy the silence and the beauty of the island. You know, in Holland, it is always busy and noisy, so it was really nice to be somewhere quiet and peaceful. The ATV made it easy to explore parts of the island that you wouldn't see if you just stay in one place. I even found a small hidden beach where we stopped to swim. That was really special.
Mission Accomplished
By the end of the day, we were all tired but very happy. Riding an ATV on Tioman is something I would definitely do again. It's not just for speed demons who like high-octane adventures, but also for those who want to see the island in a different way. Actually, to be honest, I think it is a must-do if you come to Tioman.
So, if you are thinking about visiting Tioman and you like a bit of off-road fun, then don't miss the chance to rent an ATV. It is worth every penny and you will have memories that last a lifetime.
